Vehicle Specs

We are pleased to have to offer one of the iconic 1 of 4,418 1942 Lincoln Zephyr Sedans. The Bob E.T. Gregorie-designed Lincoln-Zephyr was Edsel B. Ford's idea of what a mid-size luxury car should be; a car designed to go head-to-head against Cadillac's LaSalle and other competitors in that market segment in spite of objections by his father Henry Ford. The Gen 1 Lincoln Zephyr came to market in 1936 with its 119-inch wheelbase and flathead V-12 engine, and—in spite of overheating problems with Zephyr's 267 CI V-12 engine—sold quite well at 15,000 units. This second-generation, Village Green, 1942 4-door is one of 4,418 Lincoln Zephyr Sedans produced prior to Lincoln Motor Division's entry into wartime production manufacturing Liberty V-12 aircraft engines, February 10, 1942. Parked in 1954 and stored in Pinehurst, North Carolina, the car was re-discovered in 1970, and with the exception of a repaint, it is believed to be highly original with 12,572 miles on its odometer. The car still retains its new-for-'42 75-degree, 305/105 HP Zephyr V-12 engine, and 3-speed manual transmission, a drivetrain capable of propelling this 4-door beauty to a top speed of 90 MPH. While the Village Green exterior—which features fender skirts, pushbutton door locks, and chrome bumper guards—has been re-painted, the tan mohair interior on this Lincoln Zephyr features creature comforts such as heater and AM radio, in-dash clock, and pull handle custom door trim. This Zephyr glides through the wind on Coker-Firestone 16-inch bias-ply wide whitewall tires and sports chrome hubcaps and trims rings. The car currently does not come with keys to operate the door locks or trunk locks. This beautiful time capsule is ready for immediate delivery from our showroom.
