A particularly beautiful year for Chevrolet was 1931. At the same time, it was the end of an era as a year later, Ford's V-8 would mean the famed six-cylinder engine would no longer be top of the heap. Major mechanical changes were part of the reason for the AE Independence-series Chevrolet's striking looks, especially a two-inch-longer wheelbase. It yielded dividends not just in roomier interior accommodations; styling benefited from the longer, sleeker body. The Stovebolt Six was still a fairly new engine and while the output of the 194 CI straight-six was unchanged, it had a stiffened block and crank, which also had a new damper for smoother running. It also had new worm-and-sector steering and an improved clutch. One feature makes identifying a DeLuxe simple: They came with a bright chromed wire grille protector that could have been taken directly from Cadillac. There was plenty more, too, like cowl lamps, more chrome, dual side mounts, and many interior details. This rumble seat roadster features a two-tone Venetian Yellow and Sport Tan exterior over Venetian Yellow and Brown leather interior. It has a light matching top and complimentary folding luggage rack, along with pinstriping and that year's wire wheels in Omaha Orange. The numerous details common to DeLuxe 1931 Chevrolets and those unique to this well-preserved car combine to show why it is so beloved. Restored in the late 80s and the paint is show some wear due to age. Overall a great classic at an affordable price!
