This 1985 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 is a true time capsule, an ultra-low-mile survivor with only 11,897 original miles and a one-owner history that speaks volumes about its exceptional care and preservation. Ordered new at Greytak Chevrolet of New Castle, Delaware, this Camaro is a rare find—a third-gen icon that has been pampered since day one, preserved in its original configuration with only a few tasteful and easily reversible modifications. It retains a clean Carfax, original documentation, and remarkable factory originality that makes it stand apart in today's collector market.
Under the hood lies the legendary 5.0L Tuned Port Injection V8 (LB9)—the top performance engine option available in 1985—mated to the 700R4 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive, and backed by a 3.23 limited-slip rear differential. This drivetrain combination made the Z/28 a standout performer in its day, delivering refined acceleration and effortless cruising. The engine bay is incredibly clean—still showing factory fresh—with original belts, hoses, and exhaust all still in place. The previous owner, a meticulous caretaker, insisted on using only ethanol-free fuel and maintained the car with regular oil, coolant, and brake fluid changes throughout his long-term ownership.
The exterior is finished in the original Medium Gray Metallic lacquer enamel paint, beautifully preserved and accented by a custom hand-painted pinstripe that gives the car subtle distinction. The finish presents showroom fresh—the paint, trim, and glass appear as if the car just rolled off the assembly line. A fiberglass aftermarket cowl hood has been installed for visual impact, but the original factory hood and struts are included with the sale for those who wish to return the car to 100% stock appearance. The car rides on 16-inch Centerline wheels wrapped in Goodyear F1 tires, giving it a sharp, performance-driven stance.
Inside, the gray cloth bucket seat interior remains entirely original and incredibly well preserved. The interior still smells factory new, a rare attribute that speaks to the car's garage-kept life and limited use. Features include power windows, power locks, power hatch release, tilt steering wheel, cruise control, intermittent wipers, and a rear window defroster. Even the T-tops remain in pristine condition and include the original storage bags. The only flaw to note is a sagging headliner, clearly shown in the photos.
Although this Z/28 was ordered with a rare radio delete option, the original owner chose to install a high-end aftermarket sound system in a way that respected the integrity of the car. The system features a Kenwood AM/FM/CD head unit, a Kenwood Excelon rear amplifier, and three total amps driving custom audio components throughout the car. A custom-built rear speaker box with Skar Audio speakers fills the rear cargo area. Power is supported by an Optima Yellow Top battery for added reliability. Importantly, all modifications are completely reversible, allowing future owners to return the car to its factory configuration with ease.
Mechanically, this Camaro benefits from a GM OEM IROC “Wonderbar” steering brace, installed by the original owner to improve front-end rigidity and handling. Braking performance comes from power 4-wheel disc brakes, and power steering makes driving this survivor a breeze. The factory air conditioning system remains intact and has not been converted from R12; it will require a charge to function properly.
The sale includes the original owners manual, booklets, floormats, and a long list of original components. This is not just a collector-grade Camaro—it's a piece of Chevrolet history preserved with precision, care, and respect. If you're looking for a third-generation Camaro that looks, feels, and even smells like 1985, this Z/28 is a one-of-a-kind opportunity.
Fresh off the factory floor in appearance, fully documented, and rare in this condition—this is the kind of Camaro Z/28 you simply won't find again.
