Description

Vehicle Specs

1942 Ford U.S. Army Issue Jeep. On November 10, 1941 Ford was awarded a 14.6 million contract to supply 15,000 vehicles; by the end of the war Ford had built 277,876 GPW's. This one serial #33180. This is the real deal as built by the factory with some reproduction parts. This Jeep was completely restored about 20yrs ago with very few miles since. Time and attention to detail makes this WWII Jeep a very rugged Army vehicle fitted with an axe and shovel and even has a 50 Caliber Machine Gun Simulator that fires on oxygen and propane to shoot blanks, be sure to wear ear plugs because it sounds as loud as a real M2! NOM 4 cylinder Willys engine 4X4 transfer case and ready for action. Great addition to any authentic Military collection.

One of the most famous military vehicles of World War II, the jeep originated in a prewar US Army requirement for a simple, inexpensive, and robust vehicle for basic utility chores. Its simple design proved to be adaptable to a host of military tasks including use as a scout vehicle, battlefield ambulance, communications vehicle, and staff car. The jeep was hailed as “the savior of World War II.”

The designation “GPW” breaks out as follows: “G” is “Government,” “P” represents “80-inch wheelbase reconnaissance” and “W” for “Willys” as they were the designers of the original blueprints on which the jeeps were based.
